Sue Liu is an artist, author, communications professional, and community builder from Sydney. As an artist and communicator she wants to foster an enduring appreciation to help save Australia’s threatened wildlife and their habitats.
She started drawing only in 2019 after scuba diving in Sydney, interacting with sea animals and discovering the beauty of so many unique creatures.
She becme passionate about raising awareness and inspiring a greater interest in Australia’s native animals.
As bushfires raged across the country late last year, her curiosity quickly came to include Australia’s land animals. She was reminded about the many animals, whose habitat was destroyed as fires tore through Australia’s bush and urban lands.
During December 2019, Sue contributed funds to bushfire relief, collected goods, and volunteered with communities that were supporting the New South Wales Rural Fire Service. She initiated a small fundraising campaign and donated profits from artwork sold, to Koalas in Care in Taree, NSW. She was so encouraged by the community’s response to her fundraising efforts that she started a nature-focused business, integrating art and her philosophy of service to the community, continuing fifteen years of work for humanitarian causes.
In the coming year, Sue will be working with researchers, scientists and citizen scientists on raising awareness and developing collaborative projects for wildlife conservation.
