At the December 2017 MidCoast Council Meeting, Cr Peter Epov was elected as Chair of the newly created Floodplain Management Advisory Committee.
The Flood Plain Management Advisory Committee is the first MidCoast Council Committee established that will include actual members of the community.
Said Cr Epov, ‘Flooding in our region is a very serious issue; one that has significant economic impact on our region and which may have grave consequences in the context of public safety. It is therefore critically important that Council and the Community understand the challenges and the risks, and that Council has well established plans to mitigate the consequences, where possible.
I am looking forward to working Crs Karen Hutchinson and Katheryn Smith and welcoming experienced members of our community who may wish to nominate to work on this committee,’ said Cr Epov. ‘It is important that we have strong local input from members of our community. There is nothing like local knowledge based on years of experience. We are looking for your input.’
